By combining ERSA's PL 500 A and IR 500 A, these two systems offer and extremely precise, flexible and cost-effective solution for modern SMD rework demands. In addition to BGA, mBGA and fine pitch components, surface-mounted parts such as connectors, can be easily soldered and desoldered.
The PL 500 A placer unit allows precise placement of small components. The integrated prism optics display both the component pins and the PCB pads in one picture. Two differently coloured light sources ensure the necessary contrast.
The precise positioning of components is made easy by the 72x motor zoom camera. Auto zoom camera presets ensure accuracy as well as ease of use.
Fine adjustment between component and PCB is carried out with the X-Y micrometer table. With an external control unit, the motorised adjustment of the Z-axis, focus and zoom is simplified.
The pick-and-place vacuum is automatically switched on and off when the component is picked up and placed on the PCB. The board can be moved vibration-free along the precision guide rail in the PCB holder to the IR 500 A rework station.
The soldering process is carried out between individually adjustable top and bottom IR radiators. Due to the patented aperture system, the heat distribution can be adjusted according to component size. In order to monitor the soldering process on the screen, a second camera with automatic switch can be connected to the PL 500 A.
For component removal during rework, a vacuum pipette has been integrated into the IR 500 A. An optional cooling fan is available to cool the component after soldering.
The soldering station which has been built into the IR 500 A makes this combination a perfect soldering rework system. Up to five different soldering or desoldering tools can be connected for the appropriate application.
