Self-levelling cross line laser

7 March 2012 Test & Measurement

The Dewalt DW087K laser level produces two clearly visible red beams in seconds, with a visibility range of 15 metres. The level’s red laser beams comprise one vertical laser line and one horizontal. Being self-levelling up to a 4 degree angle, the unit also displays an out of level indication when present.

The unit can be mounted on a tripod (using a standard screw-on fixing bolt) or alternatively fixed to a wall or fixture. A built-in, internal magnet allows speedy fastening to any metal object; alternatively, a removable mounting plate is included, permitting simple fixing to walls or timber by means of a fixing of choice. Most users will attach the unit to timber, plaster or brickwork by way of one or two screws (used with possibly raw plug type fixings) where needed.

The laser offers great precision and is accurate to ±3 mm/m in a wide range of levelling applications. The unit is operated by two pushbuttons, has a low battery indicator and features a tough protective body housing to help maintain its calibration. Compact and lightweight, the robust instrument is suitable for a wide range of work tasks and is especially useful for accurate levelling work by professional tradesmen.

This unit is supplied with 3 x AA alkaline batteries (for 20+ hours’ runtime), a wall mount bracket and a heavy-duty carrying case.
