Low-power non-volatile memory

Ramtron announced what it claims is the world’s lowest energy non-volatile memory product. The FM25P16 is a 16 Kb serial memory that uses one thousandth the energy of EEPROM devices, while delivering fast read/write performance and virtually unlimited endurance. The device employs an advanced ferroelectric process that yields 100 trillion read/write cycles and reliable data retention for 10 years. It uses a fast serial peripheral interface (SPI), operating up to full bus speed of 1 MHz frequency. The IC operates from 1,8 to 3,6 V and consumes 3,2 μA in active mode (at 100 kHz) and 1,2 μA in standby mode.
