Processor supports Windows Embedded Compact 7

AMD announced that its Embedded G-Series platform now supports Windows Embedded Compact 7, the next generation of the Windows Embedded CE real-time operating system.

This embedded combination is aimed at delivering feature-rich applications on small, specialised devices for industries such as medical, retail and industrial automation.

With the combination of AMD Radeon graphics and the low-power ‘Bobcat’ x86 core, AMD Embedded G-Series APUs (Accelerated Processing Units) can provide high performance-per-watt ratios.

Features available with Windows Embedded Compact 7 include Silverlight for Windows Embedded, an updated version of Internet Explorer with support for Adobe Flash 10.1, and multi-touch support optimised for intuitive, natural input capabilities and gesture-based interactions.

Available boards and modules supporting AMD Embedded G-Series APUs and Windows Embedded Compact 7 include the MSM-eO/-N PC/104-Plus SBC and others from Kontron, the CAPA111 3,5” SBC from Axiomtek and others listed in the AMD-Based Embedded Product Catalogue.
