Miniature pushbutton switches

13 June 2012 Switches, Relays & Keypads

C&K Components has developed a miniature pushbutton switch, designated the FP series, with a totally sealed construction that utilises an O-ring between the actuator and bushing, which prevents contamination.

This sealing feature allows for automated soldering and cleaning, which saves time and money during the assembly process. The RoHS-compliant switches are available in both vertical and right-angle mount configurations, and offer an extended operating life to 50 000 cycles.

The switches measure 5,6 x 7 mm, with a board height of only 5 mm for the right-angle version and 4,5 x 7 mm with a board height of 5,6 mm for the vertical version. They feature gold over nickel-plated contacts and are available with or without a white, black or red cap. Their characteristics make them well suited for use in telecom and datacom applications.

The FP series features a contact resistance of 10 mA @ 2 V d.c., with an initial contact resistance of 80 mΩ maximum. Dielectric withstanding voltage is 500 V d.c. between terminals/1 minute, while insulation resistance is 500 MΩ minimum @ 500 V d.c. Typical bounce time is ≤10 ms, maximum operating force is 6,9 N and mechanical travel is 1,0 mm. Operating temperature ranges from -20°C to +80°C. The switches are available in tray and bulk bag packaging.
