New mobile professional two-way radio suite

Motorola has announced the immediate availability of the GM series of two-way mobile (vehicle-based) professional radios and accessories. The result of years of extensive customer research and input, the company says these high-performance radios were created to provide the immediate and reliable communication that keeps mobile teams working efficiently.

Feature-rich, rugged and easy-to-use, the new suite provides two-way radio users with increased performance, custom-tailored functionality and flexibility - prerequisites for a broad range of industry professionals who need immediate, reliable communications. Categorised in a three-tier architecture - the Popular, Versatile and Sophisticated - Motorola says that each model has a common look and feel, is easy to use and serves a particular level of communication requirement. The suite spans basic functionality for the cost-conscious user; enhanced flexibility for growing organisations; or full-featured units offering high levels of user access and feedback.

According to Nik Patel, Business Manager at Motorola Commercial, Government & Industrial Solutions Sector: Middle East and Africa, the GM series is based on Motorola's advanced core technology manufactured to international military specification standards. "Ongoing research and development has resulted in numerous superior features becoming increasingly available. For example, the new unique sound compression technology X-Pand provides crisper, clearer audio which is critical in noisy environments. In addition, advanced signalling greatly increases functionality with features such as selective call, emergency signalling and Caller ID."

As far as usability is concerned, all radios are ergonomically enhanced with user-friendly designs and are easily installed. Information management is also strengthened by the ability to use customised language displays, a wide array of icons, replaceable buttons and large easy-to-read displays which can be viewed from multiple angles using remote mount.

The radios have been custom-tailored for different types of industry. This extends from the general purpose input output (GPIO) for flexible programming of I/O lines to cooperate with external devices to the flash memory option board to allow programming of customer specific software. Noise-cancelling microphones for clear transmission and other accessories such as mobile headsets, external speakers and voice storage needed for specific environments are some of the enhancements on offer.

"With the worldwide demand for quick and efficient communication, the GM series is ideally positioned to meet the immediate requirements of users across industry," says Suzaan Sauerman, Marketing Planner for Motorola CGISS: Middle East & Africa. "They are customer-driven, user-designed and customer-validated. And they include the right combination of features which makes them a professional tool for professionals."
