Weller has released the new 2-channel soldering and desoldering station WXD 2 and the high-power desoldering iron WXDP 120.
The digitally-controlled WXD 2 was designed for professional repair work on state-of-the-art electronic assemblies in the industrial manufacturing, repair and laboratory sectors. As with all WX tools from Weller, the desoldering parameters are easy to program on the station and store in the tool. This means that users can get started as soon as the iron is plugged in, with no need for time-consuming setup.
The power sharing feature allows the flexible selection and simultaneous operation of Weller WX tools for any application up to 200 W (255 W) total power output. External devices such as a preheating plate or a solder fume extraction unit can also be connected. As the central control unit, the WXD 2 is able to switch off the externally connected Weller preheating plates and solder fume extractors if soldering is not in progress.
The station’s maintenance-free Venturi unit produces a constant vacuum via an external compressed air supply. A straightforward and multi-lingual menu navigation system keeps familiarisation times to a minimum, while the turn-and-click wheel allows intuitive operation.
As for the WXDP 120, it is ready for setback operation within 35 seconds (50°C–350°C) – and as little as 20 seconds when in standby mode. Thanks to an integrated sensor, WX tools are motion activated, meaning that they use power only when in use. The iron features advanced ergonomics and quick-release locks for changing solder cartridges and suction nozzles.
The new, extended nozzle shaft prevents the suction tube sticking. Since the suction channel is also replaced, the once tedious and time-consuming task of cleaning the tool is unnecessary. The relatively low working temperatures (380°C) and automatic standby mode triple the life of the suction nozzles. The tools are available in two sets: the WXD 2010 consisting of WXD 2 power unit, WXDP 120 desoldering iron with WDH 70 safety rest; and the WXD 2020 (pictured) consisting of WXD 2 power unit, WXDP 120 desoldering iron with WDH 70 safety rest, and WXP 120 soldering iron with WDH 10 safety rest.
