Portable electronic products in the consumer and industrial markets are becoming progressively smaller. Handheld computers, PDAs, bar code scanners, cellular telephones and pagers are among the products demanding compact surface-mount interconnects to facilitate close stacking of parallel printed circuit boards.

FCI Electronics developed Conan high-density, board-stacking connectors to address these requirements. These low-profile, surface-mount connectors feature dual rows of contacts on 1,0 mm pitch to provide a circuit density of 20 contacts per linear cm. With an available mated height of 4,15 mm, the system allows for extremely close spacing of parallel circuit boards. Designs that require additional clearance for larger components can be accommodated by selecting one of the taller header options to provide 4,5; 5,0; 5,5; 6,0 or 7,0 mm mated connector height. Standard connectors offer 9, 11, 15, 21, 25, 31, 41, 51 or 69 contact positions.
