FCI's 8ST series is derived from MIL-C-38999 series 1 and 2 and incorporates lightweight, scoop-proof and high contact density features. The design, performance and mechanical robustness of this product meet the requirements of applications in military, aerospace; ballistic missiles and weapon systems; and marine equipment.

The 8ST connector features include a very high contact density; MIL-C-38999 series 1 contact layouts; male contacts recessed into body to prevent damage by mismating (100% scoop-proof); keyway orientation; RFI-EMI shielding and shell-to-shell continuity.

The plug, receptacle bodies and endbells are manufactured from aluminium alloy and protected by cadmium or nickel plating. The shells are locked together by a bayonet coupling mechanism.
