Hirose's 3500 series is a shielded interface connector system on a 0,8 mm pitch, which allows 20 000 mating cycles guaranteed. This connector combines durability and flexibility in an SMT docking station connector.
The cable mounted plugs are fully latched in 10 and 16 positions, with IDC or solder tab termination available. A black plastic cover is then secured with two screws to complete the plug assembly. The surface-mounted socket is 5,3 mm high and incorporates two PCB retention clips to stop movement during production and an additional four tabs that can be soldered to the PCB to provide additional mechanical strength. Should this prove insufficient then holes are provided for screw fixing.
The 16-position SMT docking station connector is designed to mate with the surface-mount socket. This is also a fully shielded connector that features carefully designed guideposts capable of aligning the connector to within ±0,7 mm.
