Wi-Fi radios get ICASA approval

1 May 2013 News Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Conical Technologies announced that the Quadraflex outdoor Secure Wireless Network radios, developed by Datasat UK, have received Independent Communications Authority of SA (ICASA) approval.

Designed to cater for Wi-Fi access in a large number of applications including rural areas, mines and shopping malls, the Quadraflex network provides high-throughput backhaul and access point connectivity with a single, all-weather unit.

Very precise bandwidth management and usable quality-of-service can be enabled to make sure the system delivers critical content reliably. With support for industry standard encryption, the system conforms to the stringent security requirements of today.

The weatherproof and compact design allows for indoor and outdoor deployments of the same unit. Multi-radio support also ensures multiband and multimode operation in a single unit, which increases coverage area and reduces the number of radios needed.

Guaranteed allocation of bandwidth is ensured per user and per application for efficient use and access, dynamic monitoring and reconfiguration of bandwidth based on type of use (video, audio, data). With advance mobility, wireless clients can connect to the network even when mobile. Vehicle mounted mesh nodes can switch seamlessly between static nodes, even in extreme environments.
