New distributor of Philips Lumileds

Philips Lumileds has reached an agreement to distribute its LED products in EMEA through Silica. By virtue of the fact that Silica is an Avnet company, this deal extends to the South African market through Avnet Kopp. Following the recent restructuring of its distribution channels, this marks the first time Philips Lumileds has added new distributors in nearly two decades.

According to Philips, driving this new strategic partnership were the needs of a growing customer base and the continued, widespread expansion of Philips Lumileds into new markets.

Commenting on the news, Pierre-Yves Lesaicherre, CEO of Philips Lumileds, said: “Our new distribution partner will have full access to the products, services and people at Philips Lumileds. Silica is now able to provide its customer base with access to the world’s most comprehensive portfolio of application-specific LED solutions. Philips Lumileds is adding this market leader to our distribution portfolio, further demonstrating our total commitment to the success of our customers.”
