18-bit SAR ADC

Maxim’s MAX11156 is a tiny 12-pin, 18-bit successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in a 3 x 3 mm TDFN package. It integrates an internal reference and reference buffer, saving cost and board space over competing solutions. The device eliminates the need for negative power supplies and simplifies designs thanks to it supporting a ±5 V input from a single positive 5 V input rail. With its monotonic transfer characteristic, fast settling time and lack of latency, the IC is ideal for fast, high-precision digital control-loop systems. Its 500 KSps sampling rate makes it ideal for automatic test equipment (ATE), industrial control systems, medical instrumentation and robotics.
