L-band matrices and switching unit

24 July 2013 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

The MAS4477 and MAS4478 matrices distribute eight L-band signals to eight receivers in the frequency range of 950 to 2150 MHz without any blocking. Their feature sets are identical other than the fact that the 4477 features 50 Ω SMA female RF connectors, while the 4478 features 75 Ω F/BNC female connectors.

The units boast very good RF shielding and consist of the following subassemblies: amplifiers with high dynamic range, matrix board (8x8), processor board, LAN interface, manual control, redundant power supply and DC bias for LNB. All the necessary signal and power supply connections as well as the mains switches are provided at the rear.

The matrices are controlled via a LAN interface. Their integrated web server enables unit configuration, shows status information and obtains troubleshooting information. Cross-point settings are also possible. The units are constructed using a modular approach utilising plug-in subassemblies which enable ease of installation and maintenance.

The GTS5635 switching unit is required for automatic redundancy switching of IF and L-band signals in the 30-2150 MHz frequency range. It is composed of subassemblies with DPDT solid-state switches, attenuators (fixed and programmable), amplifiers, directional couplers, control logic, redundant power supply modules, LAN interface and mimic with manual control.

As with the above matrices, all the necessary signal and power supply connections and mains switches are provided at the back of the unit and control is via a LAN interface. Gain setting and selection of the RF path can also be done manually on the front panel. A status string can also be requested at any time via the control interface.
