Multilayer ceramic capacitors

25 June 2014 Passive Components

RS Components has enhanced its passive components offering with the introduction of a range of RS brand multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) in standard 7” or 13” reel quantities.

These devices provide customers with a reduced-cost option on general-purpose capacitor parts ready for automatic pick-and-placement.

Targeting a broad range of applications, such as mobile consumer devices or video and tuner designs among many others, these low-inductance capacitors are also ideal for high-frequency applications.

The compact MLCC series is available in the popular 0603 (1,6 x 0,8 x 0,8 mm) size and features a wide capacitance range from 1 to 10 nF, including 1000, 2200, 4700, 6800 and 10000 pF devices and a choice of 16, 50 or 100 V ratings. Devices in the range also come in the 0402 (1 x 0,5 x 0,5 mm) size, with voltage ratings of 16 and 50 V.

Most devices in the range feature an EIA Class 2 temperature-stable X7R dielectric, operating across the 55 to +125°C temperature range with capacitance tolerances of ±15%, and are ideal for decoupling applications. Other options in the range use EIA Class 1 temperature-compensating C0G (NP0) materials.

The range conforms to EIAJ RC3402 and is also compatible with EIA RS198 and IEC PUB. 384-10 standards. Offering excellent solderability characteristics, the parts are suitable for flow and reflow soldering.
