Seoul Semiconductor has developed two new LED modules based on the latest generation of its AC-driven Acrich technology.
Acrich MJT 2525 LED module.
Designed for omnidirectional lamps, the first module is comprised of the Acrich MJT 2525 series LED along with the company’s latest generation of Acrich 3 driver IC and a reflector optic.
The LED, with dimensions of 2,5 x 2,5 mm and a wide beam angle, exhibits a lumen density of 15 lm/mm² through the application of proprietary Acrich multi-junction chip technology to the high-voltage LED package. The Acrich 3 IC is the latest generation driver that can work directly from the AC mains. It enables lower-cost driver solutions and is designed to work with existing TRIAC- or phase-controlled dimmers.
All LEDs and the driver IC are incorporated on a single board, 38 mm in diameter, making the light engine easy to use in an A19 form factor. Along with the light engine comes an innovative reflector solution that has been optimised to the omnidirectionality of the light pattern. An optional heat bridge can also be used to improve thermal dissipation of the light engine.
Acrich MJT 5050 LED module.
The second module is built on the MJT 5050 LED, Acrich3 IC technology, and an innovative heatsink and secondary optics. It does not require a complex AC/DC converter and can be operated directly from the AC mains which simplifies designs, reduces component count and improves on the reliability of the luminaire.
This 30 W Acrich module delivers a typical luminous flux of 3000 lumens at 120 V a.c. operation at 5000 K, corresponding to a typical efficiency of 100 lumens per Watt. When operated in a power compensation mode, the Acrich3 technology can adapt to variations in the line voltage as great as 20% and still deliver power-level regulation within 5% to ensure uniformity of the light output.
Furthermore, the MJT 5050-based solution enables smart lighting control systems by interfacing to a wide variety of wireless networks such as IEEE 802.15.4, WiFi and Bluetooth to control dimming, and further optimise on energy savings.
