Metcal has added a solder ball placement kit to its convection rework accessory range. The company has developed a technique and identified a selection of tools that enable operators to rework small components with repeatability and consistency.
In combination with a hot air pencil, the kit provides a complete and effective solution for reworking even small chip components down to 01005, 0201, 0402 and 0602.
All told, the kit includes 2000 each of 0,04 mm, 0,06 mm, 0,08 mm and 0,10 mm solder balls with a container; four ESD-safe, carbon fibre reinforced oilers – black 0,2 mm, blue 0,3 mm, green 0,5 mm and red 0,8 mm; one part positioning matrix and squeegee; a PEEK spudger; bent tweezers; half tweezers; and a 5000-grit sharpening stone.
