SMT fuses for high AC voltages

4 February 2015 Passive Components

New from Littelfuse are two series of its popular NANO2 sub-miniature fuse, each of which provides surge tolerance and circuit protection against overload conditions for downstream components. Both feature compact, surface-mountable packages for high design flexibility in space-constrained applications.

With a 1206 (3,15 x 1,5 mm) footprint, the 470 Series fuse is the smallest 125 V a.c.-rated surface-mountable fuse available in the Littelfuse portfolio. It is designed mainly to serve as primary side circuit protection in compact applications with high AC voltage requirements. Its performance characteristics include high breaking capacity and excellent I²t values.

The 476 Series is a family of 250 V a.c.-rated fuses in a 2410 (6,10 x 2,69 mm) footprint. Like the 470 Series, it is designed for primary side circuit protection in compact devices with high voltage requirements. The 476 Series operates at extreme temperatures without excessive sacrifices on current re-rating. It is available in a high number of amperage ratings at the rated voltages - up to 5 A rated to 250 V.

Typical applications for these fuses include LED lighting, LCD/LED TVs, white goods (major household appliances), notebooks/PCs and power supply units.
