Linear Technology's LTC1564, a low noise digitally-controlled 8th order anti-aliasing filter and programmable gain amplifier in a single chip, provides better than 16-bit accuracy. It is aimed for use as a DSP front-end in high-resolution data acquisition systems. The LTC1564 corner frequency is set (from 10 kHz to 150 kHz in 10 kHz steps) via a 4-bit parallel interface. The gain is set from (1 V/V to 16 V/V) with a similar 4-bit interface. Signals with low or variable levels can be normalised with the built-in variable gain. With a proprietary noise reduction method it provides up to 122 dB total system dynamic range. The 8th order low pass filter provides the high selectivity required for high-resolution anti-aliasing filtering applications. The LTC1564 is housed in 16-pin SSOP package.
