TFT display with wide viewing angle

25 November 2015 Opto-Electronics

Raystar has released a new 7” TFT display based on O-Film, a newly developed technology that allows for a wider viewing angle.

Once the viewing angle of a display is reached, a phenomenon called grey scale inversion occurs, whereby the displayed image’s appearance changes suddenly beyond a certain viewing angle in a specific direction. Whereas standard TFT displays have a typical viewing angle of 55 degrees on the vertical axis and 65 degrees on the horizontal axis, O-Film has a viewing angle of 75 degrees on both axes, which assists in mitigating grey scale inversion.

Featuring an anti-glare surface, the RFF70YG has a 154,09 x 85,92 mm active area within its 165 x 100 x 7,2 mm module size. Available with or without touch functionality, it can be driven by digital, analog, LVDS or MIPI signals, and its 8- or 16-bit interface supports SPI, RS-232, USB and I2C.
