Calex announced the introduction of the FXP series of DC-DC converters featuring a wide 9 to 36 V input range. Up to three full bricks can be set up in parallel with no external circuitry required for output power of up to 2,8 kW. Current sharing among the converters is achieved using the droop method, therefore no current share pin is required.
The output voltages of the devices are 24 and 28 V, input to output isolation is 2250 V d.c. and efficiency is as high as 96,5%. The 24 V model provides up to 42 A of output current and the 28 V model provides up to 36 A; both models will operate down to a no-load condition. The output noise of the 24 V model is 240 mV peak to peak and the 28 V model is 280 V peak to peak. Line regulation is 0,05% typ and load regulation is 0,56 V for the 24 Vout model and 0,65 V for the 28 V model.
Backed by a five-year warranty, the FXP series feature a mean time before failure of 5,4 million hours. Both models are protected by over-current shutdown, short circuit protection and over-temperature protection. The case operating temperature range is -40°C to 100°C but an extended temperature range version of the product (-T variant) has a case operating temperature of -55°C to 105°C including cold start at -55°C.
The converters measure 63,5 x 119,38 x 13,21 mm and are designed to meet UL/cUL 60950, IEC/EN 60950-1 and MIL-STD-810G for functional shock and vibration. Output voltage setpoint accuracy is ±0,25% and temperature coefficient is 0,015%/°C. Both models feature ON/OFF control - the OFF state idle current is 3 mA, making them ideal for battery powered applications.
