Kycon has expanded its USB series by adding a mid mount USB 3.1 Type C female port connector to its product line. With a 10 Gbps data rate, USB 3.1 Gen 2 can handle significantly faster data transfer than the standard USB 2.0 and 3.0 products. The mid mount option minimizes its board footprint to offer a design solution where space is a concern, and is backward compatible with USB 3.0 and 2.0 to offer maximum design versatility.
The connector features surface mount contacts, reflow compatible high-temperature plastic, a 5 A current rating for VBUS, comes in tape and reel packaging, and is good for 10 000 mating cycles.
