P24 focusing on Weitkowitz lugs and terminals

Underlining its commitment to growing the presence of the Weitkowitz brand in southern Africa, P24 Interconnect recently appointed Pieter du Plessis as field sales engineer. P24 Interconnect CEO, Quentin van den Bergh, says that du Plessis will be responsible for servicing the company’s expanding customer base in the railway, defence and armoured vehicle markets. Added to this, he will also act as the application engineer for all Weitkowitz lugs, cord-ends and relevant tooling.

“With almost a century of providing the European market with high-quality components, Weitkowitz is rapidly becoming a serious contender in the local market. The past year has seen an increasing interest in Weitkowitz products and we felt that it was timeous to provide the range with a more defined marketing thrust,” says Van den Bergh.

Du Plessis was most recently plant manager at Tshipi Alloys where part of his portfolio included the electrical maintenance of the plant. “He was involved in the laying of all new cables in the plant and terminating these with solderless lugs and terminals. This experience has placed him in a favourable position to provide the local market with advice on application solutions and to enhance the customer experience with technically sound aftermarket support,” van den Bergh points out.

Du Plessis is confident that both existing and prospective P24 Interconnect customers will quickly realise the benefits of using this cost-effective range of over 3000 products. Part of the strategic vision is to generate increased brand awareness and to promote the stocking of the products with large electrical distributors.

Certified to the highest industry standards and including all cable types and sizes for copper and aluminium terminals, the Weitkowitz range furthers P24 Interconnect’s focus on enabling increased end-product longevity. “We firmly believe that by deploying products manufactured to the highest quality standards, with excellent tooling, the final product will be similarly characterised by durability and reliability, thereby saving customers time and money on maintenance and component replacements,” says van den Bergh.

P24 Interconnect distributes the entire range of Weitkowitz products and is able to provide turnaround times of 48 hours on ex-stock items, while new orders have a lead time of 14 to 21 working days.
