As a further development of the series LTS current transducers introduced in 1997, LEM Components has presented the new LAS 50-TP of the mProSenz family with a nominal current of 50 A. A version for 100 A will be added soon. High performance, compact size, high EMC immunity, isolation and a unipolar supply voltage of 0 ... +5 V.
The Eta-principle is based on a programmable ASIC and combines the positive properties of open-loop and closed-loop current transducers. The ASIC called PACT (programmable ASIC for current transducer) increases the accuracy of open-loop current transducers. With DC or low frequencies, the LAS 50-TP works as an open-loop current transducer, and with AC as a closed-loop transducer. Its current consumption is less than 20 mA.
Optimising the current transformer effect, a fast transient response can be achieved. The current transducers can follow accurately a dl/dt up to 100 A/ms. Since the flux inside the magnetic circuit is practically equal to zero, no overheating occurs at high frequency currents. A factor for the current-range to nominal-current ratio of 2,5 to 3 is obtained with the LAS series allowing the LAS 50-TP to precisely measure currents up to 150 A. The reference point without any primary current is 2,5 V, which is half of the supply voltage. With a variation span of the amplified output signal of 0,625 V/IPN, an output voltage of 4,375 V is achieved at +150 A and 0,625 V at -150 A.
For each transducer, LEM Components offers a five-year warranty.
