Distribution boxes simplify connections to controllers

30 January 2002 Interconnection

The new Quickon distribution boxes from Phoenix Contact are claimed to considerably simplify the connection of individual devices to controllers via sensor/actuator boxes. The sensor cable is pulled to the sensor/actuator box and connection is quick and easy with the Quickon insulation displacement quick connection system. The respective cable length can be matched to the system directly on-site. This eliminates the need to stock prefabricated sensor/actuator cables. In addition, the insulation displacement contact enables the connection of cables with a cross-sectional range of 0,34 to 0,75 mm2.

The distribution boxes are available in two versions - with prefabricated master cable, or for free fabrication via spring-cage terminal blocks; each with connection of four, six or eight devices. On the version with a master cable, the cable length can be individually selected and ordered between 0,5 and 50 m. This enables a high degree of flexibility. Standard lengths of 5 and 10 m are available at short notice, allowing small stock-keeping.
