IP rated coaxial PCB connectors

31 January 2018 Interconnection

New to Gradconn’s Nautilus waterproof coaxial range, PCB mount connector versions have been added with IP67 and IP68 protection from moisture and particle ingress - when mated and unmated. The SMA connectors are available in normal polarity and reverse polarity.

Nautilus waterproof coaxial connectors in an enclosure feature an internal seal and O-ring which prevents ingress of water and particles through both the inner contact and through the panel. The accompanying diagram shows an example of a through-panel ingress problem and SMA PCB connector IP67/IP68 solution versus the Nautilus solution.

Nautilus coaxial connectors are tested to the following exacting specifications:

IP 6x dust tight – no particle ingress.

• IP x7 waterproof for 30 minutes up to 1 metre underwater.

• IP x8 waterproof for 48 hours at 1 metre underwater.

• IP x8 waterproof for 12 hours at 5 metres underwater.

• Pressure test – 1 bar or 14,5 psi for 10 seconds.

IP6x and IPx7 test documentation is available, as well as IPx8 and pressure test documentation and test videos.
