EBV Elektronik is offering what it says is the extremely easy to use HCPL-772x (DIP-8) and HCPL-072x (SO-8) opto-couplers from Agilent Technologies. These devices utilise the latest CMOS IC technology to achieve high performance with very low power consumption. They require only two bypass capacitors for complete CMOS compatibility. Basic building blocks of the devices are a CMOS LED driver IC, a high speed LED and a CMOS detector IC. An input signal (also CMOS) controls the LED driver IC that supplies current to the LED. The detector IC incorporates an integrated photodiode, a high-speed transimpedance amplifier and a voltage comparator with an output driver. The HCPL-772X/072X optocouplers are suitable for high-speed (25 Mbps) communication and are UL, CSA, VDE and TÜV approved.

These optocouplers are suitable for isolation of digital fieldbus communication networks, such as CC-Link, DeviceNet, Profibus and SDS (smart distributed systems). Other application areas are AC plasma display panel level shifting, multiplexed data transmission, computer peripheral interface and microprocessor system interface applications.
