Miniaturisation of electronic devices requires denser PCB packing. Erni's low-profile SMC generation series with SMT terminations and a minimum board-to-board height of 8 mm has been developed for slimline PCB packaging.
This connector generation of easy and quick-locking female connectors with IDC termination for ribbon cable has snap-in locking onto the male connectors. A major benefit is the space saving compared to existing ejector latch versions. This means additional space for component assembly on the PCB. These connectors are mateble with Type Q male connectors with mounting clip, as well as fully compatible with existing SMC connectors. This gives high flexibility, and allows floating board-to-board height from 8,0 mm to 14,0 mm.
Male and female connectors are available in tape on reel packaging for automatic assembly. Additional design features for automatic SMT assembly are the easy and secure visual recognition of the black insulator and the pre-assembled mounting cover for easy picking.
Key technical features: 1,27 x 1,27 mm pitch; 12, 26, 50 contacts and now also 68 and 80-pin versions; female connectors, Type B with SMT termination; male connectors, Type Q with SMT termination; high flexibility 'board to board' heights for fixed heights - 8,0 mm, 9,4 mm, 10,8 mm and 12,2 mm/floating from 8,0 mm up to 14,0 mm; automatic SMT assembly possible; metal SMT bracket ensures exact position and fixing for the soldering process; no mating and withdrawal forces on the contacts; 1,2 A (20°) rating; < 20 mOhm contact resistance; > 104 MOhm insulation resistance; -65 to 125°C; 500 mating cycles.
