Power Electronics / Power Management
IXYS is offering an evaluation board that has been designed to simplify the evaluation of the IXYS IXDD415 high speed, high current gate driver IC, as well as to provide a building block for power circuit development. The IXDD415SI gate driver IC is factory installed in the EVDD415 evaluation board. It enables the user to drive MOSFETs in the RF package types developed by DEI (Directed Energy Inc), DE-150 or DE-275.
The evaluation board design allows these MOSFETs to be attached to a heatsink, and in so doing, the board assembly can be used as a ground referenced, low side power switch for both single-ended and push-pull configurations at frequencies up to 45 MHz. The drain output section is designed to allow the user to install the load of choice as well as the type of high voltage bypassing. The stripline topology of the output section facilitates the use of the EVDD415 in high frequency and RF applications.
The EVDD415 has numerous applications in the RF and power electronics industries: Class D and E switching audio and RF amplifiers, multi-megahertz DC to DC converters and switch mode power supplies, RF plasma generators, pulse transformer drivers, pulse generators, pulsed laser diode drivers and acoustic transducer drivers.
