Linear Technology's LTC1966, is claimed to be the world's first monolithic Delta-Sigma RMS solution. In addition to being extremely accurate (0,25% untrimmed total error from 50 Hz to 1 kHz), it also features high linearity over a wide input voltage range (0,02% from 50 mV to 350 mV). High linearity is key to making RMS to DC system design easy to calibrate: With trims at 10% and 90% of full scale, the accuracy of a system using the LTC1966 can be set to better than 0,05% across the complete input range claims the manufacturer. The LTC1966 is capable of operation on a single supply below 6 V (2,7 to 5 V or up to ±5 V) and draws a mere 170 µA max supply current.
