Advantageous array technology

Passive Components
Many components in one small package cut space, mounting cycles and costs. As things get smaller and cost less, the price of components is not the decisive factor, installed costs and space used are vital. So says Murata who knows this problem well. The company regularly combines functions, reduces size and creates arrays smaller than the parts they contain. Examples include sensors, EMI filters and ferrites, R, C and RC types.
The BLA 4-element ferrite bead arrays for general and high-speed lines are in a 1206 package. New, is the DLP31DN, two common mode choke coils in a 1206 chip. For differential mode transmission lines, five impedance values allow matching to signal speed and noise level.
Three terminal chip capacitor arrays have two ground terminals and 4, 6 or 8 elements in 1206, 2512 and 5018 packages. Values are 22 pF to 22 nF and rated currents are up to 300 mA d.c. These are the NFAs.
In 1206 format are 4-element 'chipcap arrays' with 174 variants in three dielectrics. RC networks come in a similar format. Two circuits are standard but custom designs are on offer as well. SIL capacitor networks offer uniform tracking with temperature and good balance between elements. Values are 100 pF to 10 nF with 4, 6, 7 or 8 capacitors and a common ground.
A while ago Murata introduced a magnetic recognition sensor to replace bulky coil-heads. Then an 8-sensor array provided outstanding levels of discrimination, a choice example of what Murata technology can do for an application.
