The SMD versions of the SAW resonators and front-end filters from EPCOS have hitherto been supplied in QCC8 packages (5 x 5 mm). An upgraded QCC8C package is now available. Although its dimensions are otherwise identical, its insertion height is reduced by 0,25 mm. All SAW resonators and filters in the new package are also manufactured with PROTEC. This proximate roof technology protects the sensitive filter structure from external effects by means of an ultra-thin cover layer and also reduces the degradation rates of the filter's electrical properties.
Components with QCC8 packages in existing applications can be replaced by QCC8Cs with no changes. The footprint is the same. The component height is reduced from 1,6 mm (typical value for QCC8) to 1,35 mm (typical value for QCC8C). Both packages consist of a ceramic material and a metal cover and are hermetically sealed. These rugged resonators and front-end filters can operate reliably even under tough environmental conditions.
