Type-C pressfit connector uses more economical flat press-in tool

17 July 2002 Interconnection

For backplanes press-in technology is state of the art. Another application area for male press-fit connectors is single or double-sided SMT printed circuit boards. For these applications Erni has improved its right-angle male Type-C compliant press-fit connector to allow more economical press-in using flat press-in tools.

The PCB material used should be Glass-Exoxid NEMA grade G10, G11, FR4 FR5 acc. to DIN 7735 Hgw-types or the DIN 40 802 EP-types. After the IR reflow solder process the connector is pressed in. The compliant press-fit area terminates the connector to the PCB.

Main features: Type-C male 96-pin Ernipress; easy and economical press-in using flat press-in tools; new press-in version ensures full insulation of the pins down to the PCB; high-voltage proof; provides terminal-protection against mechanical damage or short circuits; PCB hole dimensions to IEC requirements; other pin configurations upon request.
