Maxim's MAX6685 measures the temperature of a P-N junction in an external IC with 1,5°C accuracy. The lower temperature limit is pin programmable in 5°C increments from +40°C to +115°C. The upper temperature limit is factory set at either +120°C or +125°C. Each limit is associated with a separate logic output. Typically, the upper limit is used for system shutdown and the lower limit is used for clock throttling, warning, or fan control. The MAX6685 is designed to minimise false alarms by integrating and oversampling the diode voltage. A built-in hysteresis prevents output chatter when the measured temperature is close to threshold. Operates from 3 to 5,5 V with supply current of 200 µA, and temperature range is from -40 to +125°C. The MAX6685 comes in tiny 8-pin microMAX package.
