Amphenol Industrial Operations has launched significant new entry into the commercial connector market with its new Amphe-Lite line of connectors. Available through TTI, the Texas-based distributor of passive, interconnect and electromechanical products, this new commercial series of the popular, rugged and environmental 38999-type connectors provides an economical interconnect solution for a wide variety of harsh environment and commercial/industrial applications, including power, signal, RF and fibre optics. The Amphe-Lite line offers high performance capabilities for severe environment applications, and yet is cost-effective enough for general duty and non-environmental applications, according to the distributor.
Amphenol, a leader in military connectors, introduced the Amphe-Lite series of commercial connectors to be inter-mountable with Amphenol's Mil Spec 38999 connectors. The series is environmentally resistant, lightweight, corrosion resistant, provides complete EMI shielding and is very durable. The Amphe-Lite series also enables the designer to use the hundreds of readily-available standard 38999 insert configurations for any power, signal, RF or fibre optic application.
Key design features include a positive shell-to-shell coupling design, grounding fingers and electroless nickel plating to provide superior EMI shielding capability. Acme threads ensure coupling durability. Blunting of the thread on both the coupling nut and receptacle eliminates cross coupling. The connector quickly mates and self-locks with only a 360° turn of the coupling nut. An anti-vibration mechanism prevents the connector from backing off, and the interfacial seal and rear grommet ensure complete environmental sealing to prevent any electrolytic erosion.
Amphe-Lite connectors are available in shell sizes 9 through 25. Standard shell styles include wall mount receptacle, jam nut receptacle and straight plug. Custom inserts are also available.
