Microchip's field-programmable PICmicro Flash microcontroller combines analog functionality with serial communication and digital I/O capabilities. The PIC16F72 features 3,6 KB of Flash program memory, 128 bytes RAM, up to 5 MIPS performance at 20 MHz, and an operating voltage range of 2,0-5,5 V. A 5-channel, 8-bit ADC, a capture/compare/PWM module, two 8-bit timers and one 16-bit timer are also included. Other features include Brownout detection/reset, a watchdog timer and in-circuit serial programming. Serial I/O features support SPI and I2C communications protocols.
The PIC16F72 is code and pin-compatible with the company's PIC16CR72 ROM and PIC16C72A OTP-based microcontrollers and provides a proven migration path for adding reprogrammable Flash memory to existing applications. The device is suitable for small memory applications such as automotive body controls, electric tools, battery chargers and consumer appliances.
The device is available in 28-lead PDIP, SOIC, SSOP packages as well as the new 28-lead quad flat no leads (QFN) chip scale package (CSP).
