BivarOpto has introduced an extensive selection of bi-colour and RGB (red/green/blue) LEDs, providing unlimited colour possibilities in a wide selection of through-hole and SMD packages. The LEDs are available in a variety of dual-chip and tri-chip packages including, 0807, 1210, PLCC, Mako, and BivarOpto's innovative Pik-Tek large format lensed SMD package.
The RGB LEDs use a large reflector-based lead frame that allows the placement of three individually addressable LED die. Each LED chip shares the basic optics, reflector and lens, with the other two chips creating three unique LEDs in one standard SMD or though-hole package. By varying the amount of current to each chip, any colour imaginable can be created, including white and purple. These RBG LEDs offer designers the capability of communicating a wide range of messages in a single LED space. Bi-colour display control is achieved with the 'dual-die' models. The bi-colour LEDs are available in combinations of any two available LED colours.
These LEDs are ideally suited for full-colour moving message signs, general status indication, consumer products, backlighting, large-scale graphics displays, instrumentation, or any application where a full colour LED with unique high-density, high visibility, SMT display is desired.
