Computer/Embedded Technology
The VP 110/01x, from Concurrent Technologies, is an intelligent dual PMC Host I/O board. This board is an addition to its high performance yet low power Intel-based VME family. The VP 110/01x supports the 1,2 GHz Mobile Intel Pentium III Processor-M or alternatively the 800 MHz Low Voltage Intel Pentium III Processor 512K.
With two PMC sites, and the possibility to add a further two PMC sites within a second slot, the VP 110/01x is ideally suited to I/O intensive embedded applications. The two 64-bit, 66 MHz PMC sites are available for user functions or for the addition of any standard PMC modules. The PMC I/O connector signals from both PMC sites are routed to the front panel and rear connectors. An on-board connector allows for the addition of the optional PMC carrier board - the AD CR2/PMC, which allows the use of a total of four PMC modules within two VME slots.
The low power Intel Pentium III Tualatin mobile processor in a 'flip chip' package with options of 1,2 GHz or 800 MHz, supports a 133 MHz front side bus and 512 KB of high-speed secondary cache. For increased reliability heat sinks are used in preference to fans for cooling the CPU. The VP 110/01x provides, soldered on board, 512 MB of 133 MHz ECC SDRAM that can easily be upgraded to 1 GB via the onboard memory socket plus 16 MB of Application Flash memory and 512 KB of battery-backed SRAM. This board also supports EIDE (up to Ultra-DMA100); where installed EIDE options are an on-board EIDE 2,5" disk drive or a CompactFlash/IBM Microdrive carrier, both within a single slot.
Other features available are a dual 10Base-T/100Base-TX Ethernet interface, keyboard/mouse interface, PC realtime clock, one RS232 serial channel, one USB port, parallel printer port, watchdog timer and long duration timer. A P2 or P2/P0 breakout module is provided to facilitate integration in specific applications requiring rear I/O connection.
For ease of integration, The VP 110/01x supports many leading operating systems, including VxWorks, Linux, LynxOS, Windows 2000/NT/XP Embedded, RTX, and Solaris.
