PLX Technology's GigaBridge switched-PCI controller (GBP) is a scalable, highly available PCI controller, architected to preserve customer investment in edge access communication systems. Multiple GBPs can inter-operate to form a vast network of 'any-to-any' PCI bus segments and provide bandwidth in the tens of gigabits per second. Each GBP controls a PCI bus segment and enables any PCI device to link to any other PCI device. The distance between adjacent GBP devices can be up to 4,6 m and has built-in re-tries and redirection mechanism to ensure fault-tolerance and fault-isolation.

The switched-PCI controller is 100% compatible to leading PCI specification including the PCI Local Bus Specification Rev 2,2 and CompactPCI Rev 2,1 (PICMG 2,0) specification.
