Claimed to be the world's smallest, Intersil's micro lead frame packaged low power RS232 transceivers incorporate three transmitters and five receivers in 5 x 5 x 0,9 mm MFLP package. Designed to provide compact, high-speed and low power RS232 data ports for the next wave of PDAs, handheld appliances, and other mobile devices, they deliver TTL logic levels at data rates of 250 Kbps and 1 Mbps. The MLFP package is some 60% smaller than the SSOP packages it replaces. Small pads on the underside perimeter provide circuit contact so there are no leads to become bent. Special manufacturing equipment is not needed either. The new ISL4241EIR, ISL4243EIR, ISL4244EIR and ISL4245EIR ICs join Intersil°s LINEARLINK family of serial transceivers. They operate from a 2,7 to 5,5 V supply and standby supply current is only 10 nA.
