Reduced size multimedia cards

Hitachi has announced what it claims are the world's smallest flash cards. The reduced size multimedia cards (RS-MMC) measure just 18 x 24 x 1,4 mm, and offer the same functionality as current multimedia cards but are around half the size and weight. These 16, 32 and 64 MB cards are suitable for data storage in small mobile devices, including next-generation mobile phones and PDAs, and portable imaging products such as digital cameras.
The new cards are the first commercial models of the RS-MMC standard, which was approved by the MultiMediaCard Association (MMCA). They can be used as ultra-compact built-in memory modules that can be easily added or replaced, as well as removable media.
