"Traditionally, water has been the natural enemy of anything electrical. Not any more." Says Andy Fischer, managing director of Ziehl-ebm SA. "Ziehl-ebm technology is now allowing electronic motors to be used in environments previously considered unsuitable, namely wet ones."
"Often enclosed areas such as plant rooms, enclosed cabinets or process areas have high humidity levels and this is only where the trouble starts. We at Ziehl-ebm have overcome this by producing fully encapsulated electric workings of the motor for use in such areas. Encapsulating the electronics prevents damage to the windings and metal laminations from environmental moisture," Fischer continues.
Ziehl-ebm has offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban where one can discuss any unique moisture problems in this regard with specialist fan and motor consultants.
"We have on display in our showrooms cutaway sections of our water-resistant motors that demonstrate the encapsulated system from the inside and the outside and we can tailor a product to suit your application from experience gained globally via 30 county sites," he concludes.
