New precision standoffs for ultra-rugged applications

29 June 2022 Interconnection

Samtec has launched its new precision PCB standoffs used to either separate printed circuit boards, or to create space between the PCB and the chassis. Unlike a PCB spacer which is typically a hollow, usually plastic, tube that allows a screw or bolt to pass through, a standoff is a threaded tube, usually made from metal, which allows for a higher level of precision and ruggedness.

Samtec’s range of precision standoffs are part of the SureWare line of ultra-rugged hardware. Standoffs in this range include the GPSO series which are manufactured from stainless steel and combined with corrosion protection. This series is also designed to mate with the JSO series of jack-screw standoffs which are available as either a press-fit or a threaded base. Finally, the precision JSOM series is used for VITA and PC/104 applications.
