Magnetic mount antenna takes the hassle out of 4G installations

29 June 2026 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Quectel Wireless Solutions has added the YECN022CA 4G magnetic mount whip monopole external antenna to its extensive IoT antenna portfolio. Designed for fast, tool-free installation, the antenna gives wireless devices a dependable cellular link in the field, where installation time and signal reliability both matters.

Even the most capable cellular module is only as good as the antenna it is connected to. Poor antenna choice or placement remains one of the most common causes of weak links, dropped connections and field callouts in IoT deployments. External antennas such as the YECN022CA address this by moving the radiating element away from the noise and shielding of the device enclosure and positioning it where it can perform.

The YECN022CA’s magnetic base secures to any metal surface in seconds – a vehicle roof, equipment cabinet, meter box or machine housing – with no drilling or brackets required, while also taking advantage of the metal surface as a ground plane for optimal performance. Its whip monopole design provides omni-directional coverage for consistent transmission and reception in every direction, and the antenna connects via a flexible cable terminated with an SMA connector, making it plug-and-play with Quectel’s 4G module range.

Typical applications for the YECN022CA include:

• Fleet and telematics – vehicle tracking units, dashcams and in-vehicle routers.

• Industrial routers, IoT gateways and fixed wireless access equipment.

• Smart metering and prepaid vending devices.

• Remote monitoring, telemetry and agri-tech installations.

Beyond its off-the-shelf antenna range, Quectel provides comprehensive antenna design support, including simulation, testing and manufacturing of custom antenna solutions to meet specific application needs.
