Quectel Wireless Solutions has expanded its smart module portfolio with the SH503FM, a new-generation series of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth smart modules. The series unites high-performance computing, rich multimedia capability and integrated dual wireless connectivity on a single, compact LGA platform, helping engineers get their next smart device to market faster.
Smart modules combine functions that have traditionally required multiple discrete components such as the application processor, graphics processing, memory and wireless connectivity, into one highly integrated, rigorously tested device. For design engineers, this removes much of the integration burden of bringing separate function-specific modules together. It simplifies board design and RF layout, reduces the bill of materials, shrinks the product, and significantly accelerates time to market.
With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in and ready out of the box, the SH503FM series is particularly well suited to connected devices that live indoors and on wireless networks. Its on-device processing capability allows data to be analysed where it is generated rather than being sent to the cloud. This reduces latency, lowers bandwidth costs, and improves data privacy, while its multimedia support for camera, display, and audio peripherals enables rich, vision-driven product experiences. A comprehensive set of peripheral interfaces lets designers connect the displays, cameras, sensors and I/O their applications require.
Typical applications for the SH503FM series include:
• Video conferencing systems, streaming devices and smart commercial displays.
• Smart robotics, including service robots, AMRs and autonomous machines.
• Intelligent retail, such as smart POS terminals, kiosks and digital signage.
• Industrial automation, including HMIs, IoT gateways and machine control.
As with the rest of the Quectel portfolio, the SH503FM series is backed by the manufacturer’s established quality processes and long-term product support, helping to ensure supply continuity over the lifetime of a design.

As intelligence moves from the cloud to the device, memory become one of the most important design decisions in modern electronics. Edge-AI products – from smart speakers and surveillance cameras to ADAS modules and wearables – need to move data fast, but they also need to sip power. Winbond’s low-density LPDDR4/LPDDR4X SDRAM range is built to strike that balance.
