New circulator for high sites

A new circulator, designed and developed by Webb Industries, is said to be ideal for radio high sites where there is more than one transmitter on the same high site.

According to Webb, the ferrite circulator is the most effective solution for the elimination of transmitter-produced intermodulation. The circulator acts as an RF diode and the transmitted power passes from input to output with minimum loss, while reflected power is attenuated into a 50 Ω load thus preventing any reflected signals from reaching the transmitter.

Circulators were previously only available as imports with the resultant long lead times and at high prices, says Webb. This locally-designed Webb unit is of comparable quality and is competitively priced, according to the company. The range of circulators covers the VHF and UHF frequency bands.

The development of this circulator is typical of Webb Industries' ability to design and manufacture telecommunications equipment suited to the local and international markets offering major savings over imported components.
