Two new optical fibre fusion splicers have been launched by Fujikura: the core alignment 90S+ and active cladding alignment 41S+ models.
90S+ core alignment fusion splicer.
After extensive worldwide research regarding the causes of most faults when splicing, Fujikura found the answer to be 1) bad cleaves and 2) bad splices, both of which result in redos. The most common causes of bad cleaves are dirt on the blade, or a worn blade. Fibre alignment has to be absolutely precise when splicing. Cheap equipment, bad cleaves, non-calibrated equipment and dirt are some of the causes of bad splices.
Fujikura’s new AI technology, which it calls Smart Management Technology, includes active fusion control and active blade management. Active fusion technology features true core alignment via advanced image processing, which enhances splice quality under all conditions, including bad cleaves. Active blade management technology utilises Bluetooth communication and a clever algorithm in conjunction with the Fujikura CT50 cleaver to manage intelligent cleaver blade rotation when the blade is worn or damaged.
Fujikura splice kits feature user-friendly operation, high robustness, Smart Management Technology, a new electrode concept, universal tube heater, carry case, removeable work tray, easy maintenance and fully automated 4-step splicing with a dual heater oven element on the 90S+.
