The Newelec GA Plus is an adjustable earth leakage relay that puts control back in your hands. Each customer has specific needs which are unique to the application and electrical installation at hand. The GA Plus has been developed to help customers manage equipment and installations more effectively.
The NewElec GA Plus earth leakage relay provides Earth leakage protection (ground fault protection) designed to protect personnel and equipment through rapid disconnection of the mains supply to equipment that is faulty.
This protection relay enables more sensitive earth leakage protection of high-kilowatt motors started direct-on-line as well as variable speed drive applications, without nuisance tripping. This is achieved utilising band pass filters as well as incorporating a screen winding on the core balance current transformer (CBCT) to ensure even flux distribution under high starting current conditions.
The GA Plus comes fitted with an integrated earth leakage test push button connected to the test winding on the CBCT, allowing for functionality testing. The protection relay has an RS232 interface, allowing customers to configure output trip relay options including latching or non-latching main trip contact, fail-safe or non-fail-safe options, and 110 to 220 V or 380 to 525 V AC auxiliary supply voltages.
The relay’s contact current rating is 6 A at 220 V and 3 A at a voltage of 525 V AC. A latched trip changeover contact is reset by pressing the control panel-mounted push button. Sensitivities can be adjusted within the range from 30 to 1000 mA. All internal settings can be configured via the configuration software provided with the unit.
