An industry-first Android 16 smart module solution

31 July 2026 Computer/Embedded Technology Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

The MeiG Smart SLM580 4G Smart Module features native support for Android 16 and a discrete memory architecture. The module covers core frequency bands in major countries and regions worldwide. Its pin-to-pin compatibility with MeiG Smart’s SLM927 series further establishes the SLM580 as a cost-effective, highly adaptable hardware foundation for next-generation intelligent IoT endpoints.

The SLM580 module is built upon Qualcomm’s newly introduced 400-series platform, fabricated with a 4 nm process technology. It integrates an octa-core Kryo CPU and an Adreno GPU operating at 738 MHz, and provides native Android 16 support, which brings measurable improvements in privacy protection, graphics rendering pipelines, and power efficiency. The module supports 1080 p@60 fps video decoding (H.264/H.265/VP9) and 1080 p@30 fps encoding (H.264/H.265), complemented by a rich set of display, camera, touch, and audio interfaces. These capabilities enable high-definition, low-latency multimedia processing and sustained system reliability for applications including aftermarket in-vehicle devices, POS terminals, cash registers, and UAV remote controllers.

The module additionally integrates Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0, embeds a multi-constellation GNSS receiver (GPS/GLONASS/BeiDou), and supports dual-SIM dual-standby, along with voice, SMS, and phonebook functions, thus addressing a broad spectrum of digital upgrade requirements across IoT product categories. In terms of physical form factor, SLM580 adopts the identical LGA package of 41,0 x 41,0 × 2,85 mm, and maintains pin-to-pin compatibility with the SLM927 series. This design choice minimises customers’ device iteration cycles and reduces the overall cost of generational upgrades.
