Renesas Electronics has added a new member to its R-Car family of automotive SoCs. Capable of delivering more than 25 000 DMI/s, the R-Car H2 is designed to provide high-performance 3D graphics capabilities for high-end multimedia and navigation automotive systems. Media hardware accelerators enable features such as 4 x HD 1080 p video encoding/decoding including Blu-Ray support at 60 frames per second, image/voice recognition and high-resolution 3D graphics with almost no CPU load. The IC also features a PowerVR Series6 G6400 GPU from Imagination Technologies. Advanced automotive interfaces like Ethernet AVB, MOST-150 and CAN, as well as mass storage interfaces such as SATA, USB3.0/2.0, SDcard and PCI Express, are supported.
